The female contenders seem to be thriving this season, but they are about to face a different test in Ink Master Season 12 Episode 5. So far, the girls only lost one tattooist, while men seem to get themselves Cam booted from their own team.

"It's every man or woman for themselves when the artists are subject to a blind critique," "The Art Stands Alone" official synopsis read. From the looks of it, they are about to receive the hardest test of their lives, and they have to work hard to surpass this stage.

According to CarterMatt, the show's men contenders are having a hard time to keep their team together, as opposed to the women who know how to come to one another. The guys seem to be trying to get Cam booted from their group, while the girls work well in the Flash Challenges.

However, it can't be helped that some issues are brewing between these women in Ink Master Season 12. Ash Mann has been on some specific fights, like when she fired back at Janelle and Alexis. Although those were just "silly little" quarrels, it could turn into something bigger along the way.

Meanwhile, Katie McGowan makes her way back to Ink Master Season 12 as one of the veteran coaches. In an interview with Inked Mag, the Little Rock tattooist gave advice to the new season's contenders about competing on the show.

"I think that the most important thing to do when competing on Ink Master and what I explained to the people that I was coaching is that you have to relax and not get too emotionally attached to a bad critique," she said. Before becoming a coach, McGowan first joined the competition in Season 6. She later returned in Season 9 with Matt O'Baugh to work as a team.

McGowan continued to say as an artist, they create art every single day, and people will always give compliments to the tattoos they make. So, she understands that the contenders will be shocked to see their creations being criticized by the panel of judges.

As their criticisms are about to hit their egos in the way that they have never experienced before, they have to accept their comments positively and improve their work. So instead of holding on to the negative remarks and allowing it to consume them, they should work better in what they do. Ink Master Season 12 Episode 5, "The Art Stands Alone," will be out on Tuesday, July 9, on Paramount Network.
