The Harry Potter world has made different expansions, from theme parks to Broadway shows, movie series and the list goes on. Now, there are rumors the franchise will be seen on the small screens as a television series is said to be in the works, but Warner Bros. has debunked the news.

We Got This Covered reported an anonymous source told the publication that Warner Bros. is in the early stages of developing a Harry Potter television series for its upcoming streaming service. The entertainment company is now preparing itself to compete with the biggest streaming services in the world, Netflix and the forthcoming Disney+.

Featuring a Harry Potter television series may be the best way for Warner Bros. to compete with its rivals. With the franchise's success, it can never go wrong with the Wizarding World, making it its original featured content.

According to Winter is Coming, the new television show will be a prequel to the original movie and book series that will take place at Hogwarts. Further details about the show remain under wraps, but there are predictions it may be about the Marauders or Hogwarts founder. However, We Got This Covered noted it would have a new set of characters.

The-Leaky-Cauldron noted a Marauder series based on Tom Riddle has been in high demand. If the show focuses mostly on new characters, then it may follow the story of the video game, Hogwarts Mystery.

Daniel Radcliffe, who played the role of Ron in the movie series, said a remake might happen sometime in the future, but he didn't think there is still such a need for a new show. The making of a new series has also been in the rumor mill for quite some time now.

Mischief Management creative director Jordan Edwards even created a poster for his dream Harry Potter Netflix series. However, that never pushes through.

Warner Bros. has yet to confirm if there will be indeed a new Harry Potter television series. When asked, the company debunked the assumption and said there are no plans to develop a new show based on J.K. Rowling's fantasy series at all.

"There are no plans to develop the Harry Potter stories into a television series," it said. "Reports to the contrary are entirely conjectured."

If the rumored Harry Potter television series is only a speculation, fans can still see their favorite tale continue on the big screen with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 3. However, the next installment to the franchise will not be out until 2021. Warner Bros. streaming service, WarnerMedia, on the other hand, will be launched in 2020 but will have a beta test in 2019.
