Although there are several pop stars and artists that certainly make up the genre, Taylor is one of a kind. And as per critics, she has been already perceived as one of the “most influential music artists” in recent times.
Her seventh and upcoming album, Lover, is set to arrive on August 23. But while the official release is still a few weeks away, two of the album’s singles are already out – ME! And You Need To Calm Down. And certainly, these singles may now sound too familiar for almost everyone as both tracks have caused huge commotions upon their releases, respectively.
Back in April when Taylor Swift released Lover’s leadoff single, ME!, it caused a lot of uproars from the whole fandom. As it happened, it became a controversial hit as it changed the whole narrative of Taylor’s vibe that ultimately ended her dark Reputation era.
But things became so much more intense following the release of her second single, You Need To Calm Down. This is because the track has become Taylor Swift’s most cheerful yet “daring” music. And this is in consideration to the fact that You Need To Calm Down calls out all homophobic individuals and charges them to “calm down” as a support to the LGBTQ community.
It is also worth noting that her latest single was released in the middle of the Pride month celebration. As a result, it became a direct indication that Taylor’s new music is becoming more engaged in various socio-political issues of the current times.
With this kind of agenda at hand, many fans immediately praised her for her current movements. As it appears, she is trying to be more relevant and influential, especially to the aspects of the society where sensitive issues, like LGBTQ rights, are very apparent.
Quite obviously, some of the fans also thought that this is her best album yet as she tries to be of assistance in becoming a voice to the public, especially to the LGBTQ community, in these kinds of issues and problems.
Even so, many are still criticizing her for her bold movements. Sadly, there are certain individuals who see her actions as a form of capitalism to fully take advantage of the situation as Lover is about to drop next month. But whatever the case, the whole fandom of Swifties have remained positive and continued to cheer for Taylor Swift’s current success.
