Nova's (Rutina Wesley) book, titled Blessings and Blood, revelation continuously hunts her and the family in Queen Sugar Season 4 Episode 5. But aside from Nova, it also takes its toll on Davis (Timon Kyle Durrett) as his career will be in jeopardy.
"Remy [Dondre Whitfield] reveals he's leaving town; Davis turns to Charley [Dawn-Lyen Gardner] for advice when Nova's book impacts his job," "Face Speckled" official synopsis read. "Charley and Romero's [Walter Perez] clinic is raided by ICE agents; Ralph Angel [Kofi Siriboe] explains to Blue [Ethan Hutchison] that they are connected by their souls, not by their blood."
From the looks of it, a lot is about to happen in Queen Sugar Season 4 Episode 5. It is yet to be revealed how long Remy will be gone. But as Whitefield has been a part of the show since 2016, he cannot be away for no reason at all in the middle of the season.
The coming of ICE in the scene may explore new territory in the show when it comes to immigration issues. According to CarterMatt, it can show the world and give awareness about the importance of being proactive in one's community.
In addition to Queen Sugar Season 4 Episode 5, Ralph Angel's storyline will show how is it to care for someone who is not a part of the family. He will try his best to make Blue understand that they still love him, despite being not blood-related.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Vulture, Wesley talked about Nova's book. As she reveals her father's generation and more, she is now sent away after her brother, Ralph Angel, and sister, Charley, told her off.
Wesley said the book is more than dread in Queen Sugar Season 4. Although people's reaction to it varies and they are not yet ready to reveal it to the public, it is a lesson for Nova.
"She has the intention of the truth being healing," she said. The current season will mostly feature the battle between Nova and her family, arguing if revealing their secrets in the book is the right thing to do.
Nova didn't tell anyone about her plans, and no one knows what the book would contain. However, they would still be hurt both by not knowing and knowing what is in it.
Nova wants to use the revelation to heal everyone, but she understands that its effect will be different for every person. Queen Sugar Season 4 Episode 5, "Face Speckled," is set to be out on Wednesday, July 10, Oprah Winfrey Network.
