After a month of waiting for Ransom’s renewal status, CBS has finally released its decision. Unfortunately, the network has decided to cancel the show for good. Therefore, a new season will no longer happen as opposed to what the fans have hoped for.

Ransom is one of the few series in today’s television that does not resolve security issues with violence. Instead, the show inclined towards resolving conflicts through words and effective communication. And for this kind of dynamic, many fans have immensely praised the show.

But while the series has become famous for its unique storytelling and course, it has also become one of the most underrated shows. Sadly, the viewership ratings and numbers did not meet the apparent standard of the network. Even so, it still lasted for three runs which largely surprised a lot of people.

This is why many viewers and fans are now wondering why it took more than one season before finally cancelling the series for good.

After its pilot run, the show garnered an average of 2.3 million viewers per episode. Although this is already a pretty great figure for a scripted material, its time slot is the key factor as to why this number is not good enough.

Ransom largely finds its audience on a Saturday primetime schedule. Of course, this has become a very unusual decision for a network considering that other shows work well on that specific slot. Shows like Saturday Night Live! As per Cinema Blend, is difficult to become on par with. So, it is very unlikely for new scripted material to obtain its audience for this kind of scenario.

With this notion at hand, many fans are claiming that the show was not truly given a chance to prove its worth. And canceling it after three seasons without even trying to reschedule it is just “absurd.” Even so, it looks like that CBS has remained silent over the accusations made by the fandom.

Also, it is quite notable that nothing was heard from the cast members about the show’s apparent cancellation. And this is surprising according to reports. Not to mention, there were no campaigns and petitions gathered in the online community in hopes of saving the series.

Accordingly, the chance of obtaining a new season for Ransom, even the possibility of having it on a new network, is very unlikely.
