Just a few weeks ago, Good Witch finally returned for its fifth season. And based on the current reception, the show has maintained its impressive viewership ratings and numbers. This is why it is no wonder why Hallmark commissioned a new season from the production.
According to Deadline, Good Witch Season 6 is now inked and sealed. And as a "number 1" series in cable television, the renewal decision is just suitable and fitting for the show.
During its pilot run on the network four years ago, the show immediately picked up where the audience is headed. And with a strong 2.5 million viewers per episode on an average note, it is not difficult for Hallmark to renew the fantasy comedy-drama series.
Surprisingly, the average number of viewers in its current run shows an increasing trend. And, undoubtedly, it will exhibit a decline for the succeeding episodes.
But while many are already expecting that Good Witch will be renewed for a new season, the official announcement still made the fandom glad and excited for what is to come. However, this good news also came with a saddening tiding.
As it happens, TV Line revealed that one of the show's regular cast member is already leaving the series after the fifth season. And unexpectedly, Bailee Madison is the one that they are referring to. Therefore, once the new season enters the network, Bailee's character as Grace will no longer be around that time.
Unfortunately, this surprising news is already confirmed. But as for a reason behind her exit, little has been shared about the matter. Nevertheless, Bailee will forever be a "beloved" member of the Hallmark family as per TV Insider.
Along with these announcements, it has also been revealed that Bailee's character, Grace, will have a "natural exit" in Good Witch Season 5. This is because her character is now set to graduate, allowing for her character's storyline to reasonably wrap up.
Good Witch Season 6 is set to premiere in 2020. And so far, these are the only major details that have been revealed about the future of the show. Even so, things will surely be much clearer for the fans when the fifth season concludes.
As for the upcoming episode of the current season, it will premiere on July 7 carrying the title, The Road Trip.
