Princess Diana's beauty was not at all about her jewels and signature clothes, neither her title of Princess of Wales had added to how iconic this lady has been. Everybody who knows the late royal can attest to her wit and charm, and wherever she went for her advocacies, Princess Diana was loved by all.
But still Princess Diana, like all the other ladies, has a penchant for fashion and most especially jewelry, some if they can afford it. There's no doubt that with a royal like Lady Diana Spencer, she can have the most fabulous and expensive ones in her collection.
However, the Princess of Wales didn't focus only on the authenticity of her jewelry but she can also appreciate the beauty of most simple costume pieces. Known for her unique fashion, Princess Diana can make these cheap jewelry look like their real ones.
Just like the ones she wore on her 1986 tour at the middle east to meet the Sultan of Oman, the distinct piece of jewelry that others thought to be a gift from a Saudi royalty was her glittering crescent moon earrings. It was believed to made of multi-karat diamonds but the owner of the costume jewelry shop can attest to its quality.
Right before going for her trip to the Persian Gulf, Princess Diana actually bought the symbolic piece as it resembles the shape of Saudi Arabia's national symbol. The fancy piece just cost her £23 or $30 and she bought the day before at the popular London boutique, Butler & Wilson.
The Butler & Wilson have the most immense collection of costume jewelry and the late royal gets most of her unique pieces there. Strategically located at the common shopping street in London, Butler & Wilson is exactly located along the Fulham Road.
During an interview for her book, Diana: The Secrets Of Her Style, Diane Clehane talked to shop owner Simon Wilson and revealed that Princess Diana was a frequent shopper at their Fulham Road boutique. Despite her prominent status and royal title, Princess Diana would personally go to his shop and never called in to ask them to deliver what she needed.
According to Wilson, he would often see Princess Diana come in with just one bodyguard and buy loads and loads of earrings and pearls. He remembers the princess as she was trying out for a pair of earrings and she would converse with customers asking them, "Do you like these?" and it was a poignant memory of the princess loved by many.
