It looks like there's no stopping Chevrolet from soon unleashing the next-generation Corvette make, which is taking its official name as the 2020 C8 Corvette that is tipped to be a mid-engine build. An image of the hotly anticipated car has been spotted, and the leak provided a glimpse of what to expect, specifically, the vehicle's rear-end side.
Posted on Corvette Forum, the leaked image revealed an upcoming styling that noticeably took a page from its predecessor, the C7 Corvette. While the picture, which according to Car Buzz was taken from Corvette's factory in Kentucky, was not in high definition there are bits of juicy details to take note of.
There's the full-width spoiler perched on top of the rear deck, the quad exhausts at the end of each diffuser and the large vents situated above them. Easily, what was shown by the image matched with the spy photos seen earlier, leading to the conclusion that this rear-end certainly belongs to the final cut of the C8 Corvette.
That is according to Car & Driver, which added on its report that the C8 appears to be an ugly replica of a Chevrolet cousin, which is the Camaro. But it needs to be clarified that such observations apply only both cars' rear-end and the chance is high this will be altered following the official C8 introduction this July.
There were evidence too of rear glass and rear quarter panel but making them out is proving difficult for now considering the low quality of the leaked image. It was clear though that the Corvette C8 will roll out in color finish depicted in the picture, which Car Buzz said will be marketed as Rapid Blue or Elkhart Lake Blue.
The more important specifications though of the C8 Corvette were not contained in the image but thankfully Motor 1 has gotten wind of these details. It has been confirmed that the C8 will hit the road with a beastly 6.2-liter pushrod V8 motor engine that boasts a maximum output of 460 horsepower.
Per the same report by Motor 1, the powerplant's can still be boosted with some tuning works. Or would-be buyers can simply wait for the future releases with enhanced engine options that can as high as 1,000HP for the hybrid and overhead cam engine variants.
The official unveiling of the C8 Corvette is happening on July 18, which Chevrolet said will be live streamed so Corvette fans and sports car enthusiasts from outside of the United States can witness the event real-time.
