For the first time, Outlander Season 5 took its most public production in Paisley in Scotland. The show has been mostly filming indoors for its fifth season. But now, it has moved into a new location near to Glasgow with Caitriona Balfe.

The new season has been filmed behind closed doors and well-guarded areas. The show has been bound to secrecy, and it may be a little harder to do that when there are eagle-eyed fans in the area, especially if it is in a public place.

Although there are road closures, dedicated fans can't be stopped to snoop around the production. However, according to CarterMatt, Outlander Season 5's filming in Paisley may not be done on the streets, but with the town's one distinctive landmark - the church.

Balfe, who plays as Claire, has been reportedly seen filming around a church in Paisley. From the looks of it, this place is the sole reason why the production has been taken outdoors.

Paisley reportedly has not much 18th-century buildings. Thus, the new season may feature 20th-century scenes. But, it is also possible that they would use the buildings' old interiors that would fit the show's theme.

Balfes' photos while filming are now emerging on Twitter. The actress has been kind enough to let fans take pictures with her while on a break. Knowing how rare Outlander Season 5 films in public locations, the 39-year-old star maybe expecting the number of people who will try to have snapped with her.

Balfe's scenes in Paisley are believed to be part of the new season's central storyline. However, the show has been filming out of order, although it is rarely in an extreme way. 

The fan site Claire and Jaime noted the production works in blocks for scheduling, setting, and location purposes. Last month, there was news that the show already had two and a half episodes in. Hence, there are assumptions the filming in Paisley might be for Outlander Season 5 Episodes 5 and 6.

Paisley is said to be not too far from Cumbernauld, where the show's main studio is located. The filming took place between 5 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 14, so the site was mostly avoided due to possible heavy traffic flow.

There were road closures on High Street/Wellmeadow Street between Storie Street and Walker Street. So, the authorities imposed alternatives routes for people who needed to travel at the time of Outlander Season 5 filming.
