The second season of Big Little Lies is almost near its ending, so many are wondering if there will be the third installment. Big Little Lies season 3, however, is "not realistic" and it might not be possible to happen. Here's why.

In a report from TVLine, HBO programming head Casey Bloys said it was by chance the cast members of the series reunited and were able to film another batch of episodes for the second season. But, doing Big Little Lies season 3 would be almost a miracle.

In reality, Bloys noted that some of the cast members of the HBO series are the busiest working actresses in Hollywood. Most of them have other commitments, Nicole Kidman, for instance, is doing another show - The Undoing - for the network.

Aside from Kidman, other cast members are also busy with their schedules including Shailene Woodley, and Reese Witherspoon, who has on upcoming projects for Apple and Hulu. Thus, the series might not be possible to happen, especially without Kidman, Woodley, Witherspoon, and the other core cast members.

Bloys also said he would be glad to do Big Little Lies season 3 if ever the entire cast came to him and worked out their schedules. But then, he believed "it's not realistic" at all as the actors and actresses of the series signed on to the show thinking that it would be a one-time gig.

If they're interested in the idea of doing it into a six-season series, then they would've probably done it years ago. But while it is still possible there will be Big Little Lies season 3 at some point, it might not be coming back anytime soon.

Meanwhile, as previously mentioned, Big Little Lies season 2 is almost near its ending. According to the synopsis, Celeste asks Mary Louise about the tragic event that happened to Perry during his childhood. Madeline, on the other hand, is worried that their lies could tear the Monterey Five apart.

The finale episode would likely explore more what happened in the past, as well as some events from the season 1 finale. Viewers will particularly see Perry during his younger years and what's the real reason why he became the way he was.

The second season has been all about dealing with trauma and how to handle it. The lie has started to engulf them, and they are looking for other things as a distraction. And since Big Little Lies season 3 might not happen, there might not be a dramatic cliffhanger when the current installment ends.
