People are already concerned that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will reveal how Kylo Ren's story will end. Will the former Ben Solo find redemption in Star Wars Episode 9? Or is he destined to fall into the Dark Side and meet his demise at the hands of fellow Force user Rey? A new theory suggests that Kylo will fulfill his destiny, which is to finally defeat Emperor Sheev Palpatine.

The return of Sheev Palpatine has been the source of several fan theories considering that the Emperor is believed to have been killed off in Return of the Jedi. However, it is clear that Palpatine's story is far from over, and he could play a pivotal role in The Rise of Skywalker. But did Kylo Ren know about Sheev's fate even before the events in Star Wars: The Force Awakens? There is a possibility that Kylo has been looking for Palpatine all this time because he wants to be the one to ultimately destroy the Emperor.

The theory suggests that Ben Solo learned early on that Palpatine survived the fall in Return of the Jedi and decided to make it his mission to eliminate the Emperor for good. This would entail an elaborate plan where Ben joins Supreme Leader Snoke who is working with Palpatine so he can take down both villains. Unfortunately, it would also mean that he would turn to the Dark Side, change his name into Kylo Ren, and kill his father. It's a terrible sacrifice that Ben probably believes is the only way to save everyone from the First Order.

There is a lot to unwrap from the Star Wars Episode 9 theory considering that Supreme Leader Snoke had been the one to seek Ben Solo out and not the other way around. However, it is also possible that Ben had used Snoke's interest to his advantage as a way into the First Order. In addition to that, he might also be aware that the mission can only be completed with his death. If the theory is true, it would mean a depressing end for a man who has dedicated his entire life to defeating the Emperor.

Will Kylo Ren's true mission finally be revealed in Episode 9? Could the former Ben Solo manage to finish what Darth Vader started in the original trilogy? Find out when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres on December 20.
