A few weeks ago, we shared a series of news articles about Nintendo developing two new models of the Nintendo Switch that was originally released in 2017. A few days ago, the Japanese gaming console maker revealed the portable version of the hybrid console called Nintendo Switch Lite. Today, Nintendo announced the new and improved version of the Nintendo Switch slated to be released on August 2019.

While the previous reports seem to align with the latest announcements from Nintendo about the new variants of Nintendo Switch, many fans are not happy about it. The announcement of the new and improved version of the hybrid console is not that exciting, especially if you have seen its technical specs. The only notable improvement on the new version that is scheduled to release this year is its battery life.

Unlike the earlier announced Nintendo Switch Lite, the new Nintendo Switch variant is created to be a lot faster and powerful than the classic version of the hybrid console. It has longer battery life, which according to the specs can last for up to nine hours depending on the kind of game the user is playing. This is ominously longer than the classic Nintendo Switch that that has a battery pack that can last for up to seven hours.

Nintendo has made an approximately 83 percent increase in terms of battery life of the new and improved Nintendo Switch. But, this is the only remarkable feature that distinguishes the new variant from the classic. In terms of pricing, the new variant has almost the same price as the classic version, which, of course, is very disappointing since gamers are expecting a more powerful gaming console from Nintendo this time.

Just like the PlayStation 4 Slim, the new version of the classic Nintendo Switch will not have the Pro moniker to distinguish it from the base model. Nintendo Switch fans could be expecting so much more from the Japanese gaming console maker since earlier rumors claimed that the new version would have a more powerful gaming performance.

It is possible that Nintendo has made several tweaks on the storage system as well as the CPU of the new Nintendo Switch that is not yet revealed. While it may sound disappointing and less exciting, it is also possible that the Japanese console maker is developing another powerful version of the console which could be released next year. It can be recalled that there are three Nintendo Switch models, according to rumors, that are currently in the works. We have already seen two of them, and hopefully, we will see one more new Nintendo Switch variant.
