The Internet is currently swarming with leaks associated with Nintendo Switch even before the Japanese gaming console maker announced that it is launching a smaller and portable version of the hybrid gaming console. While we still need to confirm if the leaks related to a new version of Nintendo Switch is really accurate, a new leak surfaced online recently. The report claims of a patent filing made by Nintendo for a particular feature that could be related to its hybrid console.
Dutch tech site LetsGoDigital, which has always been a reliable source of information for noticing new trademarks and patterns that have been recently filed and issued shared a new patent filing and issuance related to Nintendo Switch. According to the report, Nintendo applied for a trademark for the name Nintendo Switch Do last week. It was filed in Israel patent Office and was approved and published just this Tuesday.
Those who have heard about the news are intrigued as to the reference of the term Nintendo Switch Do. Looking at the documentation of the patent, the description speaks little about it. It states that the patent was filed under the classification games, handheld games, portable games with LCD screen, Downloadable electronic game programs, and entertainment services.
It could be a reference to some kind of handheld-specific gaming service similar to Nintendo Switch Online that was launched in 2018. However, BGR reported that this could be about a physical store. The site claims that the Japanese gaming console maker recently opened its second physical store in New York.
The first brick and mortar store was launched in the same city almost 15 years ago. It also recently opened its first store in Tel Aviv in Israel. Since the Nintendo Switch Do trademark was filed to the Israeli officials, the site thinks that the trademarked name could be associated to a Nintendo Switch experience center that would soon be set up in their brick and mortar store in Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, the heavily leaked Nintendo Switch Lite was recently announced by Nintendo confirming the speculations surrounding the upcoming gaming device. It will be a portable gaming console that players can bring with them wherever they go. The Nintendo Switch Lite does not have any dock or Joy-Con controllers which resembles a bigger version of PSP.
