NCIS Season 17 is now in the works, as cast members are now teasing the production on their respective social media accounts. From the looks of it, the new installment will pick up where the previous season ended, and it would be all about Ziva's (Cote de Pablo) return.

The cameras are now rolling in California. Everyone is back, although there are no sightings of Pablo yet. Wilmer Valderrama, who plays Nick Torres, and Emily Wickersham, who portrays Ellie Bishop, have been filling their Instagram stories with filming updates.

Wickersham even posted a photo of herself with Valderrama and Sean Murray, who plays Timothy McGee. Valderrama, on the other hand, shared a snap of their first table read.

"Aaaaaaannnd we are back on set, the first table read for #NCIS Season 17th," he captioned the snap. "This season premiere is (fire emoji) (One word.. Ziva)."

Season 16 finale dropped a major shocker when it featured Ziva's return. She appeared to warn Gibbs (Mark Harmon) about the danger that is about to come.

NCIS Season 17 will explore the danger coming on Gibss' way, per Parade. Showrunners have confirmed de Pablo will be the guest star in the new season's premiere episode, as Ziva's warning is about to unfold.

Details about Ziva's return are scarce. Her return is one of the Hollywood's top secrets, as only showrunners Frank Cardea and Steven D. Binder had the copy of the final scene. De Pablo also filmed the season finale with only a small crew, late at night, on a closed set.

But, it remains to be seen if de Pablo's appearance will be more than just the premiere episode. According to CinemaBlend, there are also questions if Ziva is only a figment of Gibbs' imagination after the revelation that he could see dead people. He was even seen talking to his dead ex-wife, Diane (Melinda McGraw), in the previous season finale.

However, Season 16 might already be setting up the stage to Ziva's return by showing Bishop finding a note suggesting Ziva is alive all the while. To recall, de Pablo left the show in Season 11, saying the show's scripts are not being good enough and also citing political stuff.

Ziva's return makes all fans excited. They are also hoping there will be a chance for her and Tony's (Michael Weatherly) romance. NCIS Season 17 is set to be out on Tuesday, Sept. 24, on CBS.
