The final season of Suits started with a bang with Harvey and Donna finally going official. If the promo for the second episode of Season 9 is any indication, things are bound to head down to a more complicated route, so much so that Mike Ross returns to personify the biggest threat to his former mentor.

The summary for the upcoming episode of Suits is quite vague as it states: "The firm faces the repercussions of its actions; Samantha enlists Katrina to help an old friend." However, based on the episode teaser for the second installment of the final season, things are about to escalate to the level that even gets Harvey fired from the firm.

Shippers of Donna and Harvey would be happy to know that after things became clearer about their romantic relationship last episode, the pair have each other's backs. In one part of the promo, Donna is questioned about how their relationship affects the ordeal the firm is in, but she defends her guy fiercely.

Fans also get to see New York Bar Representative "Formidable" Faye firmly challenging the partners to shape up if they want her out of their office. The character played by Denise Crosby has shaken things up at the firm, and it remains to be seen how she will factor into the big ending.

Mike Ross also makes a return in the final season and baits Harvey as they prepare to go to battle on opposite sides of the case. "We will end this thing on good terms, no matter who wins," Harvey tells his former protégé. "You are not the same old Harvey," Mike retorts.

Fans are quite excited to see Mike's return to Suits after actor Patrick J. Adams left the show at the end of season 7. This time around, the show will be exploring the dynamic of the former partners in crime and push their relationship to the limit as they pit their skills against each other in court, Variety reported.

It seems though that he will not be without his allies as Samantha grits her teeth and helps Harvey through Zane Specter Litt Wheeler Williams' latest challenge. The final season of Suits is expected to have 10 episodes and will tackle the repercussions of Robert Zane's fall with the Bar Association and the looming changes in the firm.

In an interview with TV Line, Suits showrunner Aaron Korsh promises that the show will deliver on the bittersweet, emotional ending that the fans deserve after supporting the show for the past nine years.

"There will be some fun. ... I think just the fact that it's ending, there will be some bittersweetness. We are, as an audience, parting with these characters that we love. So I think, in general, it's probably more sweet than bitter, but there will be some bittersweetness to it. But I think it's going to end on an up note," Korsch explained.

After Suits concludes its final season, former cast member Gina Torres, who plays the character Jessica Pearson, is set to headline her new spinoff show Pearson and it's not impossible for beloved characters from the original show to pop in for a guest appearance every now and then.
