Sacred Games season 2 is all set for an August release on Netflix India. In line with its premiere, the streaming platform has come up with a photo of the cast in their best '70s costume to depict the gangster vibe in Mumbai during that time.
Shared on the official Netflix India Twitter account, the cast photo was reportedly styled by Tanya Ghavri and Mohit Rai. Rohan Shrestha was the photographer who captured the images of Sacred Games season 2 stars Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Kalki Koechlin, Ranvir Shorey, Luke Kenny, Surveen Chawla, Jatin Sarna and Pankaj Tripathi, per First Post.
"A rare picture of everyone getting along," Netflix stated in its promo post. "We are going to cherish it until Sacred Games season 2 begins."
Sacred Games, the first original Netflix Inia series, is a conspiracy thriller that follows the mysterious adventures of a troubled Mumbai police inspector named Sartaj Singh (Khan). One day, he gets a suspicious phone call from a crime boss named Ganesh Gaitonde, who has long been believed to be dead for 16 years. The stealthy figurehead informs Sartaj that he needs to save the city in 25 days. Otherwise, there will be chaos in Mumbai as dark forces from the underworld will be unearthed.
According to Daily Express, Sacred Games season 2 hints at a possible nuclear attack much more catastrophic than the bombing in Hiroshima during the Second World War. Two sides will be battling for power at the expense of the annihilation of Mumbai.
Sartaj, together with his team, will do their best to prevent this disaster from happening and he knows where to start. He figured at the end of Sacred Games season 1 that a character named Guruji (played by Pankaj Tripathi) may have ties to this brewing attack.
However, he has to dig deep into Guruji's background in Sacred Games season 2. Is he a cult leader and what links him to Gaitonde, the man who tipped off Sartaj?
Sacred Games season 2 will also explore what really happened to Gaitonde during the years he was supposedly missing and presumed dead. How did he manage to escape the prison and begin life anew?
Netflix India will release Sacred Games season 2 at midnight of Aug. 15. It will also be available on Netflix U.K. The first season remains streaming on the platform.
