A body language expert has weighed in on the reason why Queen Elizabeth II's youngest son Prince Edward is the only one among his siblings who have avoided divorce.
In recent years. The Royal House has had their hands full in dealing with the failed marriages of two royals who are in line for the throne. Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth, and Prince Philip's eldest child and next in line to the throne, famously split with Princess Diana in one of the most public divorces in the history of the monarchs in 1996 before she died of a tragic accident in 1997. Prince Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles, now Duchess of Cornwall in 2005.
Prince Andrew, who was married to Sarah "Fergie" Ferguson, Duchess of York from 1986 - 1996 had a colorful marriage, but the love match fizzled out after a decade together. Fergie, who admitted that she felt out of place as a royal, retained her title as the duchess and remained good friends with her ex-husband for 23 years of separation. She also created a name for herself as an author, television host, and an advocate of many social issues. It has even been speculated that the Duke and Duchess of York may even remarry given their unique relationship, E! reported.
After several rocky years of marriage, even Princess Anne was divorced from her first husband Captain Mark Phillips in 1992. On the same year, she married now Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, whom she remains married to until now.
However, the more low key of the three brothers, Prince Edward, who holds the title of Earl of Wessex and Earl of Forfar in Scotland, was the least expected to have a successful marriage. His union to former PR practitioner and now Countess of Wessex and Forfar Sophie, has remained strong for the past two decades.
According to body language expert Judi James, the success of the marriage should be mostly credited to Countess Sophie, who was the ideal partner for Prince Edward, Express reported.
Before his marriage, Prince Edward was known for quitting the Royal Marine training and dabbling at establishing his own production company, only to walk out of the press conference when his Royal Knock Out received less than stellar reviews.
"A successful PR with her own firm she (Countess Sophie) integrated into the Royal Family in a very unfussy way and was a perfect complement for her husband's trait of apparently taking himself a little too seriously," James said.
These days, it has been speculated that Prince Edward and Countess Sophie are favored by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, who has relegated most of his royal responsibilities to his son after he retired to Norfolk. The couple, who are the parents to Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn, celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary last June.
