Ariana Grande has taken to Instagram to call out photographers who exploit models with inappropriate conduct after she was tagged in a post about a celebrity photographer she has worked with who allegedly asked a model for nude photos.
According to a report by Marie Claire, model Sunnnaya shared a direct message thread between herself and photographer Marcus Hyde, who has previously worked with superstars like Ariana Grande and Kim Kardashian where the latter told her the standard cost for his services. The conversation revolved around an Instagram story posted by the photographer seeking models for a shoot where he posts a risqué shot of a female model with the caption: "Who wants to shoot?"
Sunnnaya replied to Hyde through a DM and inquired about the shoot. The photographer replied that a nude photoshoot would be free while lingerie and partial nudity will cost $2,000. However, in order for the shoot to push through, the photographer asked that the model send him nudes up front because he wants to see if "she was worth it."
When the model declined, Hyde shrugged it off by saying that he will continue to shoot celebrities, seeming to imply that his career will not take a hit with his shady behavior.
The post has been shared by Instagram user Diet Prada, where she tagged Ariana Grande and Kim Kardashian to call out the photographer for his inappropriate behavior.
While she did not directly name Marcus Hyde in her reply, Ariana Grande posted her reaction to her own Instagram story. "i hate that this is a conversation. but. please do not shoot with photographers who make you uncomfortable or make you feel like you need to take your clothing off if you don't want to. if you want to, sick. but if you don't, please don't (sic)."
Ariana further said that artists should not feel the need to subject themselves to exploitation and abuse. She said that despite these bad experiences, there are still many talented and respectful photographers in the industry.
She tagged Alfredo Flores, Ricky Alvarez, and Stefan Kohli in her post and encouraged other artists to also do the same for professional photographers they have positive experiences with in order to help connect artists with the right people.
Meanwhile, Ariana Grande is among the frontrunners in MTV's Video Music Awards this year along with Taylor Swift after both artists earned 10 nominations each.
Ariana picked up nominations for Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop, Best Hip Hop for her collab with 2 Chainz, among other technical categories, Billboard reported.
