Ariana Grande may be the most nominated artist in this year's MTV Music Awards after she picked up 10 nods including the biggest awards, Video of the Year and Artist of the Year. However, it seems that a conflict in her schedule will render her unable to attend the awards ceremonies and this may even cost her the plum.
Ariana recently responded to a fan question on Twitter about her plans for MTV's Video Music Awards. The fan was most likely fishing for info like what the Thank You, Next singer would wear to the event or whether she will be taking the stage to perform her song that night, Fox reported.
However, the pop star hinted that it would be unlikely for her to attend the VMAs because of her tour schedule. According to Ariana, her Sweetener World Tour has schedules in London for the day before, and after the awards.
The VMA is scheduled on August 26 at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, but Ariana Grande will be in Europe at the time to perform in Manchester on August 25, and again in Paris on the 26th. Reports indicate that this could pose a problem for MTV since the awards show typically gives awards to artists who are present to accept the honors.
Ariana's closest competition for the top awards is Taylor Swift but because of the marked difference in the number of views for their music videos, pundits are saying it is more likely that fans will vote for the Thank You, Next singer for the top prize of the night.
While MTV is left to mull the possibility that their most nominated artist may not even be around to accept the award, or perform for the show, Ariana Grande is already making fans excited about her new single as she posted a clip on her social media account.
Arianators were quick to take to Twitter to share their excitement over the tune and speculated whether it was the summer single that Ariana was hinting about as far back as May. There were also those who theorized if it was a clip from the Charlie's Angels track that Ariana has reportedly worked on with fellow superstars Miley Cyrus and Lana del Ray for the upcoming reboot of the movie, Billboard reported.
The uproar about Ariana Grande's new music could be felt online across her 160 million followers on Instagram and 64.3 million fans on Twitter.
