Fans were shocked after the lawyers of Song Joong Ki broke the news that he filed for divorce from Song Hye Kyo after one year and eight months of marriage. On July 22, the split was finalized at a family court in Seoul City, South Korea. Despite this, slanderous reports about the leading lady of Park Bo Gum in the Encounter series continue to spread like wildfire online.
Sin Chew Daily, a local media outfit in South Korea, reported that the Korean Press Ethics Commission issued warnings to a number of publications over their reports about Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo's divorce. The outlet claimed there was a YouTube video featuring the Descendants of the Sun actress with some male actors.
It claimed that the said clip is "degrading" Song Hye Kyo. What made it worse is when other news outlets picked up, causing it to trend online. "There were also several reports which carried out personal attacks on the artist. This violates human rights," the Korean Press Ethics said in a statement. It added that local media outfits should practice self-discipline and respect the privacy of the artists, including the Full House star and Song Joong Ki.
The agency of Song Hye Kyo, also, released an official statement to warn media outlets and individuals who continue to attack the actress amid her divorce from Song Joong Ki. "The agency will file a complaint for all of the other communities, comments, and YouTubers as soon as we secure the evidence," the United Artists Agency, previously, stated. This has not only crossed the line of being socially acceptable, but it is also causing (Song Hye-kyo) unbearable pain," it added.
Meanwhile, Oriental Daily reported that Song Hye Kyo had lost weight amid her divorce from Song Joong Ki. The publication shared that the 37-year-old Hallyu superstar has become thinner, recently, that she could no longer wear her wedding ring as it would slip from her finger. Even sources were claiming that the actress looked "lethargic" when attending events lately.
Aside from her reportedly thinner frame, reports were saying that Hye Kyo had removed images of Joong Ki on her official Instagram page hours after the divorce was finalized. It was, previously, revealed that there would be no division of assets after their split. Stay tuned to Business Times for the latest news and updates about Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo!
