Jennie is the first BLACKPINK member to have her solo debut, and it is not uncommon for entertainment agencies like YG Entertainment to give Kpop idols a chance to shine on the individual stage. In the case of BIGBANG, Super Junior and EXO, members work on solo projects as well as sub-unit collaborations that are tailor-fit for their strengths. Working on solo projects does not equate leaving group activities, and fans welcome the chance to see a different side of their idols with these stages.
With the success of Jennie's solo track, it will not be surprising for YG Entertainment to work on solo projects for BLACKPINK members Lisa, Jisoo, and Rose. Thai rapper Lisa is one of the most popular members with the most followed Instagram and youtube accounts on social media, and her talent has been lauded by fans in the local and international stages. Jisoo recently made her solo debut as an actress, appearing in a guest role for tvN's Arthdal Chronicles. The role was so well received that there were reports that the series is bringing her back in the upcoming chapter of the show. Meanwhile, Rose's vocal range and her fluency in languages will no doubt help her impress the audience on the international stage.
However, solo projects would have to wait until BLACKPINK members complete their Your Area World Tour which still has schedules until February, next year. Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rose are currently booked to perform for the a-nation Japanese music festival on August 17, BT reported.
BLACKPINK will also return to Japan on December 4 for the Japan Dome leg of the Your Area World Tour at the Tokyo Dome Arena, Kyocera Dome in Osaka on January 4 and 5, and finally, the Fukuoka Yahoo Auction Dome stage on February 22, next year.
