Jane the Virgin season 5 is airing its finale episode on Wednesday, July 31, on The CW. The light drama series promises and ending that will honor the true nature of telenovelas.

Speaking with TV InsiderJane the Virgin creator Jennie Snyder Urman promised a most satisfying ending to the series that ran for five years. It will be a mix of positive and startling revelations and closures that the writers have prepared for since the very beginning.

"We're honoring the structure of real telenovelas, [which means that] the good people get happy endings and the evil villains get what they deserve," Urman said.  And for Jane (played by Gina Rodriguez), the final hurdle will entail the book she's trying to publish, as well her wedding to Rafael (played by Justin Baldoni), her true love.

In the penultimate episode of Jane the Virgin season 5, which aired last July 24, Jane finally had real closure with her ex-husband Michael (played by Brett Dier). He has found his life-long partner in Charlie (played by Haley Lu Richardson), who is carrying his child. Jane couldn't be more thrilled that he's happy and contented.

"I do think it was destiny," Jane tells Michael in Jane the Virgin season 5 episode 17, per TV Line. "Everything that's happened, all the moments that led to this, you two finding each other, it couldn't have happened any other way."

Meanwhile, Petra (played by Yael Groblas) will also be putting the nightmare of her relationship with her mother Magda (played by Priscilla Barnes) behind her. Their situation will have some surprising resolution, according to the showrunner.

Xiomara (played by Andrea Navedo) and Rogelio (played by Jamie Camil), on the other hand, will figure out how to handle their careers. It's going to force Jane's father to step up and make the sacrifices.

Camil said in an interview with Too Fab that viewers of Jane the Virgin season 5 will find the finale a fulfilling one. Every character will be going full circle, which the writers have carefully planned.  However, just like Urman, Camil also warned that there will be a big twist in the end that's "straight out of telenovela."

Jane the Virgin debuted on The CW last October 2014. It was based on the Venezuelan telenovela Juana la Virgen. During its run, the show received nominations from the Golden Globes, the Peabody and the American Film Institute.
