FX Networks finally dropped the first official trailer of the mysterious American Horror Story 1984. The show's new installment is considered to be its ninth season, and it gives the nod to the classic slasher film.

The show goes back in the '80s as it features a killer spoof of the iconic horror movies, like Friday the 13th and Sleepaway Camp. The new season is deemed interesting by changing its concept, placing it in line with the classic horror films that people have loved.

From the looks of it, American Horror Story has run out of ideas regarding its storyline, although it has an anthological format. There may be no way that the show will exhaust its potential narratives. But, it seems to have overused its concept - especially the previous season's Apocalypse.

Season 8 returned Season 1's Murder House and the witches of Coven. And although these are one of the fan-favorite storylines, the acceptance still varies. Hence, it might be the reason why showrunner Ryan Murphy took the concept of the ongoing '80s nostalgia, which Stranger Things, GLOW, Snowfall, and another Murphy-produced series, Pose, have adopted.

However, according to ScreenRant, American Horror Story 1984 holds a different kind of nostalgia with the '80s slash films. The trailer even teased the show would keep the tradition alive of featuring teens being tortured while enjoying camping at Camp Redwood with an uninvited guest.

However, the trailer doesn't give a glimpse to the announced Season 9 cast members. It only features a group of teenagers having fun at the summer camp, while the threat of a masked killer looms.

Emma Roberts, Gus Kenworthy, Cody Fern, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, John Carroll Lynch, Zach Villa, DeRon Horton Matthew, and Angelica Ross will lead American Horror Story 1984. However, TheWrap noted it is not yet revealed if the show's original cast member, Sarah Paulson, would make an appearance.

True to the show's fashion, details about American Horror Story 1984 remains under wraps - except for its '80s horror flick theme. "I will tell you nothing, except that I think it's awesome," executive producer Tim Minear earlier said about the new season.

"I think it's gonna be really scary but a lot of fun, like it always is. And that if you have a taste for '80s horror, you're in for a treat," he added. American Horror Story 1984 will be out on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 10/9c on FX Networks.
