It has been five years since Taken 3 hit the big screen, so will there be Taken 4 in the works? Fans have been long waiting for the continuation of Liam Neeson's iconic action movie. But as years have passed, it looks like this franchise has come to an end.

The movie franchise has turned Neeson as an action hero. The first movie showed the 67-year-old actor as the retired CIA agent Bryan Mills. He traveled to Paris to save his daughter from human trafficking.

The movie's premise and intense action, added with Neeson's charisma, made Taken a big hit. From here, the actor became in demand to star different action films.

Neeson once again returned for Taken 2. Here, he was the one who got abducted, and his daughter would rescue him and her mother. However, the Cold Pursuit star said it would be the last time he would return to the franchise.

But, Neeson returned for Taken 3. This time, he was framed for the murder of his ex-wife. To clear his name, he had to put down and shoot a lot of people. So, will there be Taken 4 after this?

By the looks of it, it might be impossible for a family to get kidnapped or murdered every so often. If this plotline continues, fans may start to get disinterested. Neeson is even aware of this possibility, so he already ruled out the idea of Bryan's return.

"No, there's not. There's only so many times your daughter can be taken," he said, per MovieWeb. "Actually if we do have another it will be, 'Please can you take my daughter'?"

Neeson's statement makes sense. In fact, the first movie already got a mixed reception from critics, although action film lovers had nothing but praises for it. The film only had a simple premise, combined with unconventional action hero with a lot of action-packed scenes and a memorable, iconic line.

However, Taken 2 and Taken 3 only rehashed the concept of Bryan's daughter getting abducted. Some people might already think that he is a terrible father for letting it happen to his daughter several times, instead of becoming a superhero who keeps on saving her. So, it may be understandable as to why there will be no Taken 4.

But, ScreenRant noted Taken 4 could continue by featuring a new actor. It could also be a prequel where Bryan's early days as a CIA agent would be explored.
