Fans are still hopeful that there will be Shooter Season 4 following USA Network's cancellation after three seasons. There are reports the reason behind the cancellation is the series' rating drop. So, will Hulu, Netflix, or Amazon pick up the show?
Season 3 only got an average of 740,000 total viewers with a 0.2 demo rating. It went down from Season 2's 1.25 million viewers and 0.35 demo rating.
Based on Stephen Hunter's Point of Impact, Shooter tells the story of a highly-decorated Marine Corps sniper Bob Lee Swagger (Ryan Phillippe). He is the man who got pulled back into the fray when his former commanding officer, Isaac Johnson (Omar Epps), asked for his help to prevent an assassination plot against the United States' President.
However, Swagger eventually realized the truth that he was only set up to take the fall for another murder. So, he started a new mission to clear his name and keep his family safe, per TVLine.
The previous seasons featured Swagger's rivalry with his colleague, answers for the questions about his father's death, and to uncover the truth about Atlas. So, will fans ever get to see Shooter Season 4?
According to Cinema Blend, production companies are still in the process of finding the show a new home. Both Paramount Television and Universal Cable Productions are hoping that other company executives will look past the series' ratings to consider continuing Swagger's story.
Variety noted Shooter Season 4 is being shopped around, as discussions are now ongoing at Paramount Network. This network may be the safest place where the show may end up.
However, there are reports it will not succeed, knowing Paramount Network has its slate of original programming to handle. So, here comes streaming services. The likes of Netflix and Amazon can enter the scene and take over to adopt the show.
Amazon and Netflix don't pay attention to the show's demographic totals compared to big television networks. The show has a lot of fans who still want to see Swagger return for Shooter Season 4.
However, fans have yet to create a Change.org petition or any campaign to demand the series to get picked up. But, as the show continuously gets cult following, it may not far to happen.
So if USA Network has no plans to do Shooter Season 4, fans want Netflix, Amazon, or even Hulu to pick it up. Hopefully, they would invest in continuing Swagger's story.
