Lauren Patten's character, Officer Rachel Witten, debuted in Blue Bloods last year and the actress will return in Blue Bloods season 10 - possibly in the future seasons as well.
Patten revealed via Twitter post that she's back in uniform and will reprise her role as Officer Witten in Blue Bloods season 10. She is the second partner of Eddie after Jamie was promoted to Sergeant and switched precincts. Rachel and Eddie were different from the mix, which makes their partnership so dynamic.
For starters, there aren't many two-female partnerships within the NYPD and there haven't been more of that in the series as well. But now that they return as partners, these to women will carry a unique perspective and a tenacious spirit.
Eddie and Rachel have a good relationship, largely because the latter is one of the few notable non-Reagans who attended Eddie and Jamie's wedding at the end of season 9. That means Patten's character knows more about the relationship of the couple and that's something that could be explored in the future seasons.
In addition, Patten's return in Blue Blood season 10 means viewers will be seeing more of her and Eddie working together on different cases - which is very interesting to see. Also, writers may have come up with an idea that Eddie's life has changed after the wedding, and she'll be different working with Rachel.
Blue Bloods season 10 will air on Friday, September 27, on CBS, and it will be kicking off with its 200th episode. This is considered a huge milestone for the series, and also a chance to celebrate the past while also looking forward to the future.
So now, what could the premier title mean? Every good episode of the show needs an intriguing title, and the premiere title of Blue Bloods season 10 would be "The Real Deal." This could be a reference to the NYPD or the Reagan family - after all, they are the real deal in this show.
The Reagans get their job done properly and they aren't afraid to face and take on difficult situations. The premiere title is likely a simple reference for that, but it may be also connected to something deeper - probably an issue or a case about identity.
An imposter might show up within this episode and steal something valuable from a case that the NYPD is investigating. But no matter what happens here, the episode will be very much what loyal Blue Bloods viewers would he hoping for.
