When Outlander first landed on Starz back in 2014, the cast members have revealed that they have no idea what will the future of the show would look like. So when the series immediately caught the attention of many, it became quite "overwhelming" for them as per reports.
The pilot season of the series premiered on August 9, 2014. And that is exactly five years from today. This is why Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe shared a "thank-you" video for this very event.
According to Cartermatt, the anniversary video was released on the very day of the celebration. In it, Sam and Caitriona, who play the roles of Jamie and Claire, shared their sentiments and gratitude to everyone who supported the show throughout the four seasons it offered and the upcoming fifth installment.
The "telly-couple" also looked back when they first met on set. And as per Sam, they were both shy towards each other. Unknowingly, they became close as time passed by, which is quite evident with the way they talk to each other, especially on the video.
As for Caitriona, she expressed and extended gratitude to the overall fandom. She revealed that when Outlander first premiered on Starz, it had over 1.8 million viewers, which they saw as a huge success for the show.
The anniversary video seemingly appears to be taken while they were on set for Outlander Season 5. And it is only fitting considering that the show's filming is still ongoing. Recent reports claim that the production is taking a lot of time due to the unfortunate delays brought by the weather and schedule.
Per Express UK's articles, the publication revealed the truths behind the show's unfortunate premiere push backs. As it happened, Outlander Season 5 is supposed to premiere in November of this year to follow the same pattern that is used to apply every season's premiere.
But since the bosses from Starz has finally revealed that the "shake up" of schedules impacted the show's release, there is not much that everyone could do about it. Instead, the fans are charged to patiently wait for the series. Even so, they are assured that it will be worth the wait.
Accordingly, there is still no word heard yet from the production cast and crew as to when the new season will arrive. But one thing has remained for certain, and that is the show will surely arrive in the early months of 2020.
