The Spanish drama series Cable Girls season 4 has finally been released on Netflix last Aug. 9. The show, set in the 1920s, centers on feminism and the sexual politics of that decade with characters like Lidia, Ángeles, Carlota, Marga, and Sara in the lead.

Though the streaming platform has yet to confirm whether the show has been renewed for the fifth season, fans speculate that Cable Girls season 5 is happening. The cast and crew may have started production of the new season just as the show has premiered season 4.

According to the Spanish news outlet La RazonCable Girls season 5 has been listed on IMDb. This comes despite reports that one of its stars, Maggie Civantos, might not be able to return due to her other commitments.

Rumors surfaced that the show will not be renewed if Civantos won't be able to join the fifth season and that the fourth season is its last run. However, reports have also appeared in a fan forum in July that filming has begun for Cable Girls season 5. It's not clear, however, if Civantos is still part of the cast.

Regardless, viewers of Cable Girls still have the fourth season to catch up on given that it's just been out on Netflix for less than a week. The latest story takes the ladies in 1930s Madrid when women have been generally changing society and pushing for more gender equality.

Around this time, Spain is no longer ruled by a monarchy. Carlota has set out plans to run as mayor. Lidia, on the other hand, will have some challenges dealing with high profile and difficult men at work.

Cable Girls debuted on Netflix in April 2017, and it's also known as Las Chicas del Cable. Its focus is on four young women who have forged a friendship as they work in a telecommunications company.

In the third season, an anti-government group stormed the telecommunications company to plant a bomb. The police, however, got wind of the act of terrorism, which left just one person hurt while the rest escaped unscathed.

Meanwhile, Lidia dealt with trouble with her evil former mother-in-law, Carmen, who took her baby in Cable Girls. Fortunately, she caught up with Carmen and secured her baby but not after a deadly encounter that left a former flame bleeding.

The first four seasons of Cable Girls are currently streaming on Netflix.
