After almost two years of waiting, Netflix finally announced the release of The Crown Season 3. The long wait will be over after almost three months. The new season will be out in November.

The new season will feature a major time jump as it will explore the events that transpired from 1964 to 1977. With the leap forward, there is also a recast of the most critical roles.

Olivia Colman succeeds Claire Foy's role as Queen Elizabeth II. Tobias Menzies, on the other hand, gets Matt Smith's role as Prince Philip. Ben Daniels and Helena Bonham Carter also join the series as Lord Snowdown and Princess Margaret, respectively, per TVLine.

Emerald Fennel will also be seen in The Crown Season 3 as Camilla Parker Bowles. Other stars that will be in the show are Josh O'Connor as Prince Charles, Erin Doherty as Princess Anne, Marion Bailey as The Queen Mother, and Jason Watkins as Prime Minister Harold Wilson.

Netflix also dropped the first trailer of the series, giving a look to the new time that the fan-favorite royals will explore. The teaser seemed very dramatic by showing Colman slowly walking into the frame as the camera is zooming in. It gave a look to Queen Elizabeth in full regalia as she slowly turned her face to the camera before the screen turned black and displayed the show title.

Talking about Colman's stint in The Crown Season 3, Collider noted the 45-year-old star had been a "rock-star" actress for years. She finally got recognized in the movie, The Favourite, which gave her an Oscar Award for Best Actress.

Although the Netflix show is already a big name, adding an Oscar-winning actress in the series may add up to its fame and following. Fans will surely wait to see Colman's take of Queen Elizabeth's role compared to Foy. With the time jump, there are also questions if The Crown Season 3 will still feel the same or something new with its new cast members.

Meanwhile, ahead of The Crown Season 3's release, Season 4 is now in the works. The fourth installment is set to begin its production later this year.

So far, The Crown Season 4 is said to take place in the 1980s. Here, Emma Corrin has been added to play the role of Lady Diana Spencer, aka Princess Di. The X-Files star Gillian Anderson will also join the fourth season reportedly as the former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

The series creator, Peter Morgan, earlier revealed the show's Seasons 3 and 4 were shot back-to-back. The Crown Season 3 is set to be out on Sunday, Nov. 17, on Netflix.
