The previous season of Grown-ish has recently ended, but there's good news about the new installment - particularly its possible release date. Freeform revealed that Grown-ish season 3 would arrive in "winter 2020."

In a video released by the network via YouTube, Freeform confirms that the news season of the Yara Shahidi-led series will drop during winter time of 2020. But, the official release date remains uncertain, largely because "winter" could mean a lot of different things. It is possible Grown-ish season 3 will arrive in December 2020. However, it's also very likely that the new season will premiere in January or February 2020.

As for what's coming next, the teaser video also focused on a particular subject -- the junior year. The characters are now in the next phase of their life, and many of them want to move towards what they want. All of them will surely evolve in Grown-ish season 3, especially since junior year is somewhat a phase where you need to decide for your career.

Fans will also see a new face in the upcoming installment; it was previously announced that STAR actress Ryan Destiny is on board for Grown-ish season 3. Deadline reported that the actress will be a recurring character, playing the role of Jillian -- a transferee student from an HBCU and will study filmmaking at Cal U.

Destiny's character is described as being "smart," "cultured," and "worldly." Jillian also fits right in with Zoey (Shahidi) and the elective crew of girls, can talk arts and music with Luca (Luka Sabbat), while activism and politics with Aaron (Trevor Jackson).

Meanwhile, some might not be impressed with Grown-ish's live ratings as the program only generates a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and with under 500,000 viewers per week. But then, that's only a small sample of the overall audience of the show since there's still DVR viewership streaming and others.

As per CarterMatt, Freeform will likely continue the series until Season 4, as there's still one year left for the characters -- the senior year. But if ever the series goes beyond Season 4, then Grown-ish may shift to a new story -- yet that could shake-up core cast members and the network should keep everyone together.

And while the official release date of Grown-ish season 3 is still up in the air, Deadline revealed the production for the third season started in July 2019. The series is produced by ABC Signature Studios and executive produced by E. Brian Dobbins, Helen Sugland, Laurence Fishburne, Anthony Anderson, Craig Doyle, Jenifer Rice-Genzuk Henry, Julie Bean, and Kenya Barris.
