The Resident season 3 will open with a catastrophic event. It looks like a hospital fire will put the lives of the staff and patients in danger as something blows up on Chastain.
A teaser for The Resident season 3 shows Dr. Conrad (played by Matt Czuchry) down on the ground and unconscious. This comes after he warns Nic (played by Emily VanCamp) that the place could blow up at any minute, so she has to get out of the building.
While catastrophes and emergencies have been done on doctor shows before, this is the first massive and alarming incident on The Resident season 3. Will everyone make it out without any accidents or casualties?
In addition to the fire, a casting call for the production in Atlanta suggests that The Resident season 3 will feature a plane crash scene. The show is also looking to add real physical therapists in the series for a short appearance.
Meanwhile, The Resident season 3's first episode will also address the cliffhanger regarding the fate of Nic's sister and father. It's been assumed that one of them could die as a result of the transplant procedure for Jessie's condition, but showrunner Amy Holden Jones told Hollywood Life that both of them might live with one patient going through a long recovery.
But if The Resident season 3 is going to open right where the second season ended, Jones also hinted that somewhere in the middle of the season is a time jump. Dr. Conrad is primed to become an attending physician.
"We will probably jump time after the break to the second part of the season, and we're anticipating at that point upping everyone in their categories," the showrunner."We'd like to advance Devon to being a resident and having interns of his own to see how he handles that situation," she added. "We'd like to see what happens when Conrad becomes an attending himself and so there will probably be a time jump in the second half of the season."
The Resident season 3 begun production in the middle of July after Fox announced its renewal in March. The show, however, will return on a new night on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. beginning Sept. 24. It used to air on Monday evenings, but FOX did not explain the change in schedule.
