When Dodge unveiled the Charger Hellcat Widebody back in June, the auto community was at awe with its massive power rated at 707 horsepower. Now, the performance carmaker is once again beating its own record with the unveiling of the new Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Daytona 50th Anniversary Edition.

At the heart of the new Dodge Charge Daytona is a 6.2-liter V8 engine that is capable of churning out 717 horsepower. This is exactly the kind of performance fans expect from a brand that is well-known and has a storied history of putting together high-performance machines. In true Dodge fashion, the new Charger Daytona is a cut above the rest.

With this massive engine, it did not surprise fans and critics alike that the new Dodge Charger Daytona can complete a quarter-mile sprint in less than 11 seconds. This is the fastest time record for all four-door cars in the world. Dodge also claims that the car can reach top speeds of up to 200mph.

What is fascinating about this powerful new beast is that it is packed inside the body of a four-door sedan. While this type of car does not necessarily require that much power to start with, Dodge went on and built one anyway. Despite its rather uncommon blend of power and style, the new Charger Daytona has new 20-inch carbon-finish wheels that gave the car its much-needed aesthetic that screams performance. Housed in these wheels are the ever efficient Brembo brakes.

The new Dodge Charger Daytona, as the full name suggests, was built in commemoration of its 50th anniversary. This new car pay homage to the original Dodge Charger Daytona that won the Talledega 500 in 1969. Behind the driver seat during this historic race was Richard Brickhouse who replaced the original drive, Charlie Glotzbach. The car was later redesigned and eventually became the Plymouth Superbird.

Adding a sense of exclusivity to the already superior car is the fact that only 501 will be built. The 2020 Dodge Charger Daytona does not have the iconic spoiler which made its predecessor stand out. However, its massive engine and power more than compensate for the lack of this aesthetic upgrade.

As for the price, the 2020 Dodge Charger Daytona does not come in cheap. It has a price tag of $70,000 and is expected to hit the market later this year. Dodge has yet to confirm whether the new Charger Daytona will offer upgradable parts.
