Ray Donovan season 7 is putting Mickey Donovan (played by Jon Voight) back in prison. However, this could be a good break for Ray (played by Liev Schreiber) to be without this damaging father figure in his life for a little while.
Showtime released the latest teaser to Ray Donovan season 7 to reveal the fate of Mickey, who is seen wearing that familiar orange prison clothes. Viewers will recall that the old man spent most of season 6 on the run, but it looks like the law has finally caught up with the fugitive.
This doesn't mean, however, that viewers will see less of Voight in Ray Donovan season 7. The actor is still signed on as a regular, but his character's fate will have a direct effect on Ray.
The upcoming installment will find the titular character making headway with these therapy sessions with his shrink. Alan Alda will reprise his role as Dr. Arthur Amiot in Ray Donovan season 7.
"Yes, we will see [more of] Alan [next season]," showrunner David Hollander confirmed in an interview with TV Line. "[Season 7] revolves around Ray's need for a loving father and an older authority figure who thinks he's special. Or cares for him."
Meanwhile, Daryl (played by Pooch Hall) will develop a new relationship in Ray Donovan season 7. He won't be facing legal troubles just yet. Instead, this new love might be the thing he needs to rehabilitate his life.
But along with the old faces, some new stars are joining Ray Donovan season 7 in recurring roles. Josh Hamilton has been cast as Kevin Sullivan, a mogul whose business could affect Ray's own business. Kerry Condon will play Hamilton's sister and the manager of one of the families more high-profile companies. Louisa Krause has been cast as Liberty, an alternative healer who will help Terry (played by Eddie Marsan) with this new healing plan.
Ray Donovan debuted on Showtime in 2013. Set in Los Angeles, the show is about a crime fixer who takes care of the payoff and bribes to ensure that his clients are on the good side of the law. But when his father got out of prison, Ray's life and his business turned complicated, especially with the FBI on their back.
The show's seventh season is expected to premiere on Nov. 17, 2019, and it will be about Ray trying to find ways to fix himself as he fixes what his clients need.
