BBC has yet to confirm the arrival of Bodyguard season 2, but many fans believe the BAFTA-winning thriller will be back at some point. For series star Sophie Rundle, however, she still "doesn't know" what's going on with the potential second season.
In some previous reports, series creator Jed Mercurio and lead star Richard Madden are certain that the Bodyguard season 2 is happening. Mercurio even said that he's open in doing the second installment, but Madden hinted the series might not come back soon. The two reportedly talked about the second season but decided to give at least a year so they could work on something better.
Now, a report via Metro revealed Rundle doesn't know what's going on with Bodyguard season 2. The actress admits to the outlet that she's not sure about the series' future, as well as her character in the second installment. She added that a lot of people are asking her about this, but she has no idea what's going on.
Rundle is hoping the series will return and she then joked the reason why actors have no idea with what's going on is probably that they don't trust them when it comes to that matter. She then revealed it was only supposed to be a one-off and a lot of things need to be considered if they'll be doing it again - especially since some cast members have other shows, like Rundle who stars in Peaky Blinders.
Rundle plays Vicky in the series, the estranged wife of David Budd (Madden) and always begged her husband to seek help after he comes back from war. But the first season concluded on a positive note, hinting they'll reunite in the future. If that happens, there could be a time jump sending these two and their children into the future following the events that happened in the first season.
Although Bodyguard season 2 is not yet officially renewed, reports are pointing the series would come back. The possible release date remains uncertain since the first season ended in 2018 and season 2 will reportedly no go into production before 2019 ends.
Aside from Madden and Rundle's potential come back in Bodyguard season 2, some cast members that would likely come back include David Westhead (as John Vosler, the Prime Minister), Michael Schaeffer (Richard Longcross), Richard Riddell (Tom Fenton), Vincent Franklin (Mike Travis), Paul Ready (Rob MacDonald), Ash Tandon (Deepak Sharma), Nina Toussaint-White (Louise Rayburn), and Gina McKee (Anne Sampson).
