Greenleaf Season 4 is coming and its home network, OWN, has dropped its first official trailer. It looks like there will be a heavy drama happening inside the megachurch as a major transition is about to happen.
The Greenleafs will be trying to maintain a united front in the midst of losing Cavalry to Bob Whitmore (Beau Bridges) and Harmony & Hope Ministries. However, the past and present secrets created what could have been a fatal structure to the family's weak foundation.
In the new season, Deadline noted Lady Mae (Lynn Whitfield) and Grace (Merle Dandridge) would form an unlikely alliance as they try to reclaim the church from Harmony & Hope. Grace will use her position as the interim head pastor to get back the Cavalry, while Lady Mae will use her ability to persuade people outside of the church.
However, things will be complicated when Grace receives a mysterious phone call that threatens to reveal her biggest secret in Greenleaf Season 4. Harmony & Hope will tighten its grip on the Cavalry day by day, while Bishop (Keith David) will continue working solving his marital issues with his wife, Lady Mae.
In the previous season, the show featured a surprising twist when Bishop and Lady Mae almost ended their relationship. The two had a hard time together, but they never thought they would also lose their church. Although Lady Mae seemed to be determined to leave Bishop, she might get back to him in no time.
Things are now haunting Lady Mae after losing the Cavalry. Now, she and Grace are doing their best to get it back in the new season. In the trailer, fans can see how on point Lady Mae's character is. Whitfield even gets praises for perfectly portraying the role.
Grace is also seen in trouble as there are threats that her past secrets will come out in Greenleaf Season 4. Charity (Deborah Joy Winans), on the other hand, gets what she wishes for and that is to get the attention of everyone.
The new season is expected to run around the Calvary, as the fight is on to who will finally get it. As Lady Mae and Bishop's marriage is on the verge of breaking down, it remains to be seen if things will work out their way, or it will entirely fall right on their faces.
Greenleaf Season 4 is set to be out on Sept. 3, on OWN. The show has been moved to a new timeslot, every Tuesday at 10/9c p.m. from its usual Wednesday schedule.
