Legacies season 2 is set to air this fall, and the series introduces several new characters, one of which is Bianca Santos' Maya. The character can stir things up within the world of the Mystic Falls, but what's role in the new season?
According to the casting information via Deadline, Maya is a "sharp-tongued and flirtatious new student at Mystic Falls High," and she's also Sheriff Mac's daughter and Ethan's sister. Further details about Santos' character aren't yet revealed, but she could bring more adventures, as well as romantic hijinks.
Santos is known for her roles as Lucy Velez in MTV's Happyland and as Lexi Rivera in Freeform's The Fosters. The 29-year-old actress also appeared in several movies, including Priceless, Ouija, and The Duff. In Legacies season 2, Santos will have a recurring role which means viewers will see her within a good chunk of the upcoming installment.
Meanwhile, one of the key questions entering Legacies season 2 is how to bring Hope Mikaelson back from the brink. She's in a complicated situation in which she finds herself in a moment where nobody even remembers her.
There are also other questions that needed to be answered, including whether or not relationships will change and evolve at the Salvatore School without her being around. And what would happen next when the dust settles? Malivore is still out there in some form or shape, yet there might be other things that would surprise the characters along the way.
In a related report, Matt Davis previously teased that his character Alaric Saltzman will find a new love in Legacies season 2. He is one of the most complex characters within The CW series as he has been a father figure to the pupils at the Salvatore School, yet his journey has been complicated and saddest so far.
Davis said Alaric is the embodiment of a "tragic hero" and caught in a cycle where he keeps on seeking love and happiness - two things snatched up in his life. The actor also compared his character to Sisyphus, as he's rolling up the rock, but he keeps going back down.
During the San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Davis made sure that things would get better for his character in the second installment. The actor teased the arrival of his new love interest, saying the new woman could be a "mother of two kids."
Legacies season 2 premieres on Thursday, October 10, on The CW.
