The controversial hit series, Designated Survivor, is still making the headlines recently despite Netflix's cancellation a few weeks ago. And based on the reports, it seems that a new season will still arrive after all.
According to Radio Times, there are already a few plans on how the show will push through the next season. And as it appears, it will pick up where it last left off which is when President Kirkman did not disclose that his opponent has nothing to do with the conspiracy at all.
For three seasons, the show has been nothing but quite extraordinary. And while it may have a few similarities with the setting and dynamic of other political-related series, Designated Survivor has become truly a survivor in the world of series materials today.
The first two seasons of the show originally aired on ABC. It became one of the strongest materials on the network just after its pilot season. However, things have changed after the second installment. And unfortunately, ABC decided to let go of the series for good.
A few months after the confirmed cancellation, the fans, of course, rallied behind the Kiefer Sutherland-starred series. And with a few campaigns on various social media platforms, Netflix picked up the show for a new season.
This gave the show a new chance to prove itself, once more. And on June of this year, the third season of Designated Survivor finally arrived on the platform. But while it has been given the opportunity of being much more open to its plots and courses, it seemingly appears that it wasn't enough.
Designated Survivor Season 3 performed impressively on its new network. Many reports and critics have claimed that the show garnered more audience upon its arrival on its new platform. Accordingly, a lot of people expected the show to continue.
Despite the huge success, Netflix has decided to cancel the show for good. And according to Cinema Blend, the details were not disclosed as to why it has been axed. Even so, some reports shared that the cancellation was just a response to the internal problems that the show is having.
Although the series is still making the headlines and how the fourth season should go when it airs, Morning Picker has confirmed that the series will no longer continue its course on Netflix. And unless other networks would pick up the show, the decision will remain intact.
It is also worth noting that Kiefer Sutherland himself has already spoken about the matter. And as per his statement, the third season will be the finality of the show.
