McMafia Season 2 is now in the works, and there are emerging reports it will be once again filmed in Croatia. The previous season was also filmed in the country in the Balkans, as the cast and crew gear up to start rolling the film.
According to Film New Europe, the producers chose to shoot in Croatia again after the success of the first season. They have now applied for a new round of cash rebates under the incentive scheme for filming in the country.
The city of Zagreb was used as Prague in some scenes in Season 1, while the Dubrava Clinical Hospital played as a Russian hospital. Johann Frank nightclub on Ban Jelacic Square was also used as a club in Tel Aviv.
The production also took place in Split, Rovinj, Rijeka, Opatija and on the island of Pag. So, these places might also be used in McMafia Season 2, especially Zagreb and the coastal locations. About 15 Croatian film workers were involved in Season 1 filming. Aside from having 3,000 extras, Croatian actors Nina Violic, Lucija Serbedzija, and Goran Navojec also had supporting roles in the show at the time.
"Croatia was a wonderful place for filming. We loved the hospitality and enthusiasm of the Croatian team, and the people in general," director James Watkins said. "Croatia is already known as a tourist location, but it is still not recognized from the UK production standpoint. "
With its development and infrastructure, Croatia could be a world-class filming destination that could compete with other famous locations. Lead star James Norton, on the other hand, said the country's spots were consistently wonderful.

McMafia Season 2 will explore the depths of the crime and terror in Alex's (Norton) life that started in Season 1, TV Season Spoilers noted. Alex's effort to stay away from the family business will be of no use, so more challenges and threats will arise. Of course, there will also be a lot of actions and thriller scenes. McMafia Season 2 is set to be out in the mid-quarter of 2019 on AMC.
