For Longmire, this was exactly what happened to them along the way. The first three seasons of the show premiered on A&E. But after receiving a cancellation due to undisclosed reasons, the production has decided to offer the series to other networks.
Netflix saw the opportunity and potential of Longmire. And without further ado, the streaming giant picked up and renewed the show for three more seasons.
Having ten episodes for each season, the series was able to cover Craig Johnson's Walt Longmire Mysteries novel series. And upon reaching the cover-to-cover adaptation, it seems that there is no other way anymore to continue the show.
According to What's On Netflix, this is probably the reason why Longmire Season 7 will no longer happen in the future. And without a book or novel to cover anymore, the production and creator might have decided to stick with the dynamic and setting of the novel series.
It is worth remembering that without the books and novels, deviations on plots and events will largely happen on the series And this is something that the creators might not want for Longmire.
Accordingly, the show has been canceled for good after running for three seasons on Netflix. Even so, the platform, along with the show's bosses, provided the fans with a satisfying and pleasing ending for Walt Longmire. Bustle claims that this was the plan all along ever since the fifth season's arrival on the platform.
As per the publication, Longmire's production heads promised for a pleasing and satisfying ending since they were already final with the sixth season being the series finale. So, there is no chance that a new season will happen, considering that the plot is all tied up and sealed.
While the fans have remained optimistic and hopeful, it seems that Season 7 is certainly not happening. But if in case it does in the future, then it might be a reboot of the original show.
