Undercover season 2 has been confirmed, and the production is reportedly taking place in Europe. The first season of Netflix's first Benelux original focused on the illicit drug trade, but the follow-up installment shifts to a new story -- now focusing in illegal arms business.

The first season of Undercover has been received well in its home country and Netflix users around the world. The series primarily aired Belgian pubcaster VRT in February, and then it became available on the streaming giant on May 3, 2019.

Additionally, the Belgian-Dutch crime drama series ranked on Netflix as one of the most popular series in that category in the U.K., But while Undercover season 2 has been renewed, the official release date was not yet released.

According to some reports, however, Undercover season 2 might first premiere in Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and France in February 2020. And then, the series will be released on Netflix in May 2020. And just like the first season, the follow-up season will also consist of 10 episodes.

Also, Anna Drijver and Tom Waes are expected to return, reprising their roles as Kim De Rooij and Bob Lemmens, respectively. The first season follows Kim and Bob doing undercover to bust a drug ring manufacturing ecstasy.

Undercover season 2 will continue with its story but will shift its focus on illegal arms business, and it set a year after the events of the first run. Kim now works for a human rights organization, while Bob remains a cop. Again, they will work together after tracing an illegal arms operation that started in Syria back to Belgium.

However, Bob will only be the one going undercover this time to find out more about the illegal business. The country is at the center of much-organized crime in the second season, but it promises to guarantee a lot of humor, excitement, as well as emotions.

Meanwhile, drug kingpin Ferry Bouman (plays by Frank Lammers) will also return in the second run, and he's still in jail and trying to find out the identity of the undercover agents who busted him. Since the second installment follows a new story setting, the series might be introducing new faces as well.

Filming for Undercover season 2 has reportedly started since April 2019 and due to conclude in September 2019. Nico Moolenaar returns as the showrunner, and Jan Theys ("Salamander") produces. The first season is still available to binge-watch on Netflix.
