NCIS has become CBS's longest-running scripted series material today. And with its impressive viewership records, it seems that the show will be on air for a few more years.
As per recent reports, Mark Harmon does not have any intention of leaving the show. Yet in his own terms, he would if the production can no longer produce a compelling plot in the future. But since the show is returning soon for a new season, it only proves that the series has something more to offer.
While some of the fans are pretty much excited for the new season's arrival this fall, others, however, see things differently. As it happens, there are individuals who claim that NCIS is becoming unpleasant and unsatisfying in terms of their plots, storylines, and settings.
In an article published by Cheat Sheet, it states that the fans are having a huge "mixed feeling" toward the new season. And this is in consideration of the fact that the previous season did not go well as intended it to be.
Although the viewership numbers have pretty much remained constant, the number of unpleasant reviews have increased as the show progressed. And based on the fans' reception, NCIS' ongoing path is not really looking well.
It is true though that Ziva David has played an integral role in the success of the show. And with her surprising comeback for the new season, it actually adds hype that makes it so much more exciting.
But whether it was the plan all along, it has not been revealed to the public. Even so, her disappearance in the early episodes of NCIS Season 16 which led everyone on the department to think that she's dead, made the show quite interesting. However, many fans think that it's missing something without her.
So, when the news about her return has surfaced, it piqued the interests of the fans. And this is probably one of the reasons why many are excited to finally see the new season of the show.
On the other, Cote de Pablo's return as Ziva David is also one of the worries of the fans thinking that she might just "destroy" the progress of the plot. Accordingly, the fandom thinks that the show is no longer certain of their own plans for the show's plot and story.
Nevertheless, it seems that more people are still hoping for a good comeback. And surely, everyone will witness this if it will happen when NCIS Season 17 premieres on September 24, on CBS.
