It had been Brienne of Tarth's (Gwendoline Christie) dream to be a knight since she first appeared on Game of Thrones. Although her wish had come true in Season 8, there was still a fleeting moment that the 40-year-old star felt "angry" for her character.

It was significant character development for Brienne when Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldeu) knighted her in "A Knight of Seven Kingdoms." However, it was also a very depressing moment when the same guy that made her a knight left her for another woman - Cersei (Lena Headey).

In an interview with Deadline, Christie revealed she "felt incredibly upset" about it for Brienne. "I was also thrilled about it as an actor because it meant getting to use some real acting muscles. It was a brilliant scene," she said. "I did feel angry for the character at that moment, but what was brilliant is that she goes straight back to work, and ultimately, she supersedes her ambition."

Brienne only wanted to be a member of Renly's (Gethin Anthony) Kingsguard in the beginning, but she ultimately ended up becoming Lord Commander of Bran's (Isaac Hempstead Wright) Kingsguard. For the first time, she has been in charge. According to Christie, it is all about Brienne's skill as a knight, coupled with her abilities and intelligence, that made her achieve her dream.

Meanwhile, in a different interview with GQ , Christie revealed Brienne brought "structure and reliability" to her life. Hence, when Game of Thrones ended, it was a difficult thing to leave her character after playing the role since Season 2.

Despite the clamor and negative reviews, it was an extraordinary "state of affairs" for Christie to leave her role behind. She felt genuinely emotional about the show's ending after it worked as an act of liberation for her.

The character helped opened her life in so many ways that she never expected, and it shut her life down in other ways. However, now that Game of Thrones came to a close, she is now excited to do new things.

The final season had been kind to her character, giving Brienne a satisfying ending. She managed to fulfill her dreams that brought a lot of hope to the world that George R.R. Martin created.

No matter what they said, Game of Thrones Season 8 was particularly fantastic for Christie as an actor, she told The Wrap. When Brienne was knighted, it was a step outside the conventions of gender roles. It was also satisfying for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens' character star to explore a sexual world, be in control, and managed to activate it.
