There will be another The Vampire Diaries reference in Legacies Season 2 with the coming of new cast members. Bosch star Bianca Kajlich will join the show as a new arm of the law, Sheriff Mac. So, how will she be connected to the original series?
According to CinemaBlend, Kajlich's character name is a nod to The Vampire Diaries' star Marguerite MacIntyre, who played the role of Sheriff Forbes. Forbes met her demise even before the original series ended.
So, it looks like Forbes' legacy will live on with the coming of a new sheriff in Legacies Season 2. Forbes is the mother of Caroline (Candice King), who reportedly will be in the new season premiere, although not in a direct way.
The character was already recognized in The Vampire Diaries and had been mentioned on Legacies for several times. Caroline's surrogate daughter, Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) was even named after her mother's mom, Elizabeth. This just shows another connection of the spinoff series to the original show.
So, what will be Mac's role in Legacies Season 2? Kajlich's character is a human addition to the town of Mystic Falls that is filled with supernatural creatures. She is said to have a troubled past, although it has yet to be revealed what those problems are. Despite the issues surrounding her personality, she is reportedly open to taking a shot at romance whenever there will be a chance.
A single mom and a career woman, Mac may be Alaric's (Matthew Davis) new love interest in Legacies Season 2. However, there are hopes that if it happens, Alaric will stick on to her, as he is known as a guy who burns through ladies.
TVLine reported Mac's coming might make Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) realized that Mystic Falls is a hellscape and he needs to get as far as possible away from it. Mac will be the mother of the newcomers Bianca Santos and Leo Howard, who will play the roles of Maya and Ethan.
Maya is described to be a flirtatious new student at the Salvatore School, while Ethan is a "competitive athlete and a kind new student at Mystic Falls High School. Despite being siblings, the two will attend different schools in the coming new season. The reason behind it remains to be seen, but it will be soon found out when Legacies Season 2 hits the small screens on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 9/8c on The CW.
