Suits season 9 will not be airing a new episode this week, but the cast of the series didn't take a week off for filming. Some of the actors associated with the series over the past few years are already preparing to bid farewell, with both Dule Hill and Amanda Schull confirming they're done filming their part.
Hill and Schull - who plays Alex Williams and Katrina Bennett, respectively - are done filming their part in Suits season 9. These characters have been part of the series before season 8, though this is where they first became prominent. Viewers learned more about them in this season, as well as where they came from.
Alex and Katrina also helped to establish a new dimension after Mike Ross era (plays by Patrick J. Adams). While most viewers missed the latter character, writers and cast still did a great job to keep Suits going on. But now that everyone prepares to say goodbye to the series, there'll likely be more emotional episodes ahead before the show airs the finale later this year.
Aside from Hill and Schull wrapping up filming for Suits season 9, it was previously revealed that Katherine Heigl (plays Samantha Wheeler) was done with production after being part of the show for a couple of years. This news was confirmed by Sarah Rafferty (Donna Paulsen) via Instagram - noting that we've reached the "end of the road" for the character.
While Rafferty's post does verify Samantha's job status is in jeopardy, there are still more interesting stories coming up for this character. For instance, she could find a way on how to get her job back, but if she doesn't, maybe she could work somewhere else and find her happiness.
Adams will likely return as well, but it seems like he wrapped his role earlier than other. This might be because he has other projects, including The Right Stuff, where he'll be playing John Glenn. As for his part in Suits season 9, it will likely reminisce his early days in the series, as well as who he has come to be over time.
Meghan Markle, however, will not return in Suits season 9 since she's now a member of the royal family. But, the former actress was once a major character in the series, playing the role of Rachel Zane. Meanwhile, since this is the final season of the legal drama series, the finale will surely be an emotional event - particularly to cast, crew, and long-time viewers, who have watched the show for almost a decade.
