A lot is about to happen come Legends of Tomorrow Season 5. Although Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford are announced to leave the show, there will be new additions that will make the series more intense and creepier.
In an interview with TV Insider, executive producer Phil Klemmer dropped some major events that would be happening in the new season. There are theories the latest installment will be creepier with the coming of John Constantine (Matt Ryan). Things will also be magical with the addition of unicorns, a dragon, and power of love.
Season 5 is also said to be history-heavy as Klemmer wanted to return to the "bread-and-butter time travel." Here, it may feature the monstrous humans like Genghis Khan, Lizzie Borden, Caligula, John Wayne Gacy, and Charles Manson.
Asked if Zari (Tala Ashe) has rewritten her past, Klemmer explained the veto of Anti-Metahuman Act of 2029 completely revised her dystopian timeline. Hence, the little girl grew up to be a different woman. She even has resented her brother for joining the Legends.
There are also questions if Time Bureau director Ava Sharpe (Jes Macallan), and Legends captain Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) can survive Ava's Purgatory and make it through Legends of Tomorrow Season 5. Klemmer explained this could only happen if Sara could handle Ava calling the shots. He revealed people behind the show are trying to mix things up for them and not mess it all up, so things may be better in the new season.
Meanwhile, some fans want to ship Time Bureau agent Nora Darhk (Ford) and Ray Palmer (Routh), although these two have been announced to leave the show. Klemmer joked that if Ray is courting Nora, they should have Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), who died in Season 3 and dubbed as "the literal dad from Hell," returned.
Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 would mark the end of Routh and Ford's time in the series. "Brandon and Courtney have been invaluable members of the Legends family," executive producers Klemmer, Grianne Godfree and Keto Shimizu told Deadline about their exit. "They have always brought a level of passion and collaboration to their characters and the show - both on and off the screen - that we deeply admire and for which we are eternally grateful."
The show's creative team decided to end Ray and Nora's story arcs in an unknown reason. CBR noted there has been a rotating cast of characters through the show's run. However, the door would be left open for these two for possible guest appearances in the future. The CW has yet to announce Legends of Tomorrow Season 5's release date.
