God Friended Me Season 2 will surely see the light of the day after CBS renewed the show for a second installment. The show will be a part of the network's 2019-2020 season and will continue the journey of Miles Finer (Brandon Micheal Hall).

The show follows the story of Miles, who is an outspoken atheist that received a mysterious social media friend request from someone called God. From here, he has been making new connections and changing the lives of the people around him.

The show has averaged 10 million viewers that make it the second-most-watched new series on CBS. It has also become the most-watched scripted program that airs every Sunday.

CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl said in a statement, via Variety, that they're thrilled with how the show has performed. "It's one of the top three new series on television, has improved its period significantly, and continues a long tradition of prestige dramas for CBS on the night," he added.

Senior executive vice president of programming Thom Sherman, on the other hand, proudly said the cast and producers had done an excellent job of bringing the show to life with "humorous and inspirational" storylines. Viewers have loved all the characters and the positive message they deliver every time they hit the small screen.

Meanwhile, Erica Gimple is now promoted to series regular in God Friended Me Season 2 after her recurring role in the previous season. Season 1 ended with Miles meeting a girl who also claimed that she had received a friend request from God.

This scene led to several questions if other individuals also received a friend request from God. Elsewhere, Monsters & Critics added after the fallout; there might be some reconciliations happening in the second season. Relationships would be carried over, even if it didn't end in a way that fans liked to see.

The previous season finale ended with a major cliffhanger that no one saw coming. As the show started full of surprises, the anticipation for the second season is at an all-time high. The series has been taking a new approach to everyone's beliefs and what fueled people to stick to those ideas. So, the new season will continuously tackle this concept in a new way.

God Friended Me Season 2 will be out on Sept. 29 on CBS. It will continuously be seen every Sunday night with the timeslot it succeeded from the last season.
