The new medical drama in town is returning soon for a new season. But just a few weeks ahead of its second season premiere, New Amsterdam has announced that Dr. Max will have a new oncologist in the new installment. And this has caused a great commotion among the fans since it could mean that Dr. Helen died in the crash.

In the last few moments of the pilot season finale, an ambulance crash has caught everyone off guard. And what's even more heart-stopping in this situation is the fact that the characters involved in the crash are all integral figures in the storyline.

These key people include Dr. Max, Georgia, Dr. Lauren, and Dr. Helen. Not to mention, Georgia just gave birth, and the newborn baby is also inside the ambulance. And it goes without saying that the whole crash incident became a make-or-break deal for New Amsterdam.

Even so, the likes of Max and Georgia, along with their newborn baby, are seen alive in the end. But still, the crash has remained to be a huge cliffhanger since Dr. Helen and Dr. Lauren are in grave danger.

According to TV Line, the series creators of New Amsterdam previously revealed that someone would die from the accident. And this will all happen in the first two episodes of the new season. But as to who this person might be, it remains unknown until probably today.

As it happens, the same publication reported that a new face would be joining the cast of the medical drama series. Dr. Valentina Castro, who will be played by Ana Villafañe, will enter the new season as Max's new oncologist. It is also mentioned that she has a history with Dr. Helen, which is why Helen sent Max to her.

It is worth noting that Helen withdrew herself from Max's case. But after they sorted things out, she returned and reclaimed the cancer case of the doctor.

A little while after, she still sent Max's case files to another doctor (Dr. Valentina). Even so, she also promised Max that she would do everything to help him with his treatments.

With this promise at hand, it is hard to imagine other reasons for Dr. Valentina's arrival on the scene. And if it's not for Helen, she will not be included in the loop. But since her arrival is already confirmed, many fans have grown so much more worried that Helen might be the one who will die.

But whatever the case, New Amsterdam Season 2 will surely start heartbreakingly on September 24.
