NBC has canceled The Village Season 2 a few days after Season 1 wrapped up. Fans had been waiting for the renewal news when the show ended on May 21, but they were surprised of cancellation's announcement on May 30.
The Village followed the story of the intertwined lives of the residents of the Brooklyn apartment building. The show could be seen at 10 p.m., following the network favorite This Is Us. However, it shuffled time twice and placed at the 9 p.m. time slot until it settled down to the 8 p.m. schedule.
The drama series launched to 4.9 million viewers and got an average of 4.1 million by May. It even got higher viewership numbers compared to NBC's other renewed shows. With the cancellation, the show left several unanswered questions that fans are now looking for some answers.
Season 1 ended with a major cliffhanger that could only be answered if it got The Village Season 2. According to TV Insider, the previous season concluded with unanswered questions about Katie's (Grace Van Dien) pregnancy, her father's, Nick (Warren Christie), return, and Daniels welcoming the coming of a new resident, but threatening others' fates.
The show introduced a different kind of family that was worth watching. Everything started when Nick moved to a building, where nobody knew that one of the residents was his daughter. From here, the tale about lies, truth, and consequences began as the family tried to figure out how to make things work.
The neighbors also had their issues to face, but as they lived in one community, everyone was a family helping each other. Although the show had a quiet ending, here were the questions fans needed answers in The Village Season 2, per Am New York.
After an altercation with Sarah (Michaela McManus) and Katie, Nick could have stayed in the village to be a part of his grandchild's life. There are also questions if Patricia (Lorraine Toussaint) would have survived her surgery after preparing for the worst in the last three episodes.
Katie also gave birth early unexpectedly. To recall, Sarah told Katie her son, Cooper, would have health implications after being born prematurely.
Katie was planning to put her child for adoption, but the circumstances seemed to disagree. There were troubles at home and in the adoption papers that changed Katie's mind. Seeing Cooper made her decide not to go through it at all, but she had yet to tell Claire. The Village Season 2 could have explored Katie's life as a young mother and the impact of losing another child on Claire.
