Crime drama series Undercover is the first Belgian-Dutch production on Netflix and has been confirmed to be coming back for a second season. Here's everything we know so far about the new installment - including its possible release date, cast, plot, as well as other details.
The official release date of Undercover season 2 was not yet revealed, but the series aired in Belgian pubcaster VRT in February 2019, then became available on Netflix on May 3, 2019. If it follows the same pattern, the new installment will premiere first in France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria in February 2020, and then after that, the series will be available on the streaming platform in May 2020.
As for who's returning in Undercover season 2, it is expected that Tom Waes and Anna Drijver are coming back, reprising their roles Bob Lemmens and Kim De Rooij, respectively. Other cast members that would likely return include Warre Verlinden (as David Lemmens), Emma Verlinden (Polly Lemmens), Kris Cuppens (Walter Devos), Nina Mensch (Jezebel van Kamp), Kevin Janssens (Jurgen van Kamp).
In addition, Sara De Bosschere (Lena Vandekerckhove), Lieke van den Broek (Sonja van Kamp), Huub Smit (Dennis de Vries), Katrien De Ruysscher (Liesbeth Mertens), Manou Kersting (Nick Janssens), Robbie Cleiren (Marc Gevers), Raymond Thiry (John Zwart), and Elise Schaap (Danielle Bouman) might all be coming back as well in the upcoming installment.
The production of Undercover season 2 is reportedly taking place in Europe, and viewers will see a new story when the series arrives. The story of the first season mostly focused on the illicit drug trade, but the follow-up season will now focus on illegal arms businesses, and it is set a year following the events of the first run.
In Undercover season 2, Kim is now working for a human rights organization, while Bob is still working as a cop. The duo will work again together after they traced an illegal arms operation which started in Syria back to Belgium. But this time around, Bob will be the only one going undercover to find out more about the illegal business.
Drug kingpin Ferry Bouman (plays by Frank Lammers) also returns in the second season, who's still in jail and trying to figure out who are the agents that busted him. And since the new season will follow a new story, the series might also be introducing new faces. The filming for season 2 has reportedly begun in April 2019, and it is due to end in September 2019.
