It has been almost a year now ever since the fans last saw Overlord Season 3. But until earlier this month, no word was heard from the creators of the series. And it seems that it might be a while before the new season arrives on television screens.
According to The Geek Herald, there are no clear confirmations yet whether Overlord Season 4 will still push through in the coming years or not. And although the "ambitious" crossover was seen recently, it did not clarify if a new season will arrive soon.
The pilot season of the dark-fantasy anime series first arrived on screens in 2015. Having a total of 13 episodes, it easily caught its audience, which allowed the series to obtain its undoubted success.
But while the pilot run was indeed successful, it took almost three years before the second season premiered. Even so, the fans rejoiced for its continuation. Not to mention, the third season was also sealed and confirmed. So, it was a huge comeback for the show.
After releasing the second set of thirteen episodes, the third installment immediately followed. From having a three-year gap the last time around, the fans only waited for three months before having a new season. Hence, when Overlord Season 3 premiered in July 2018, everyone thought that the same would also happen for the new season.
Unfortunately, three months after, nothing was heard or obtained from the network or the creator. And fast forward to today, there are still no clear renewal updates about the animated series.
This makes a lot of fans pretty worried. Not to mention, the third season also left its viewers in a hanging situation.
Comic Book also agrees to the reports about the status of the new season. But things got interesting when an alleged announcement was made in the early weeks of August.
As per the reports, the panel for Overlord which was told to be headed by the series creator and illustrator, Kugane Maruyama and So-Bin, announced that a new season is currently in the development. It has also been revealed that Yukie Sugawara, the animated series scriptwriter, was also in the panel.
Quite obviously, this alleged announcement made the fans excited. However, even the announcement was not confirmed. And some fans are convinced that the only way to know for sure is to wait for Madhouse's confirmation since they are the studio that has been overseeing the series.
But even so, if the announcement was legitimate and that Overlord Season 4 is already in the works, then the fans might need to wait for another year for its arrival. Therefore, the new season might arrive in the late summer or early fall of 2020.
